Fefu and Her Friends - Gannon Center for Women and Leadership
Ann Shanahan's Fefu and Her Friends was staged and performed at Loyola Universtiy Chicago's historic Piper hall.
Loyola University Chicago faculty members participating in the Women’s Studies and Gender Studies Research Seminar presented “‘Fefu and Her Friends': Performance as a Method of Interdisciplinary Inquiry.” In 2012 the seminar explored performance as a methodology of interdisciplinary inquiry through staging of a full length play, “Fefu and Her Friends” by Maria Irene Fornes, performed by eight of the faculty members of the Seminar. This project investigates the unique capacity of live performance to manifest interdisciplinary research in an embodied, communal form.
The performances were held in historic Piper Hall, moving audience members through the house in successive scenes.
Production design included close curation of site and period specific scenery, lighting, and sound.
